The Story of Wrestlers Reign

Wrestlers Reign LLC

Wrestlers Reign is the first wrestling street-wear lifestyle brand. Established back in 07-2019 and based out of North Carolina. The vision behind Wrestlers Reign is to recognize the passion of wrestlers, former athletes, and wrestling fans across the world.

Design Theory

How often did you come across wrestling apparel that is aesthetic, rugged, and edgy? All of the wrestling apparel I found in the market was geared towards schools or had tacky graphics. Which is fine, but I wanted wrestling apparel that had a bold modern street-wear vibe.
With no luck, I continued my search in the market and came to a dead end. I hated that wrestling didn't have much to show for. Wrestling is far from mainstream, but it does create some of the most passionate athletes. The problem I saw, was that there wasn't much expression for the sport of wrestling (other than school apparel.) I wanted wrestling apparel that embodied the passion I have as a wrestler
The journey began, Wrestlers Reign was created as a rugged edgy street-wear lifestyle brand that embodies the passion, dominance, and resilience of wrestling. I wanted the brand of Wrestlers Reign to boldly state, "This embodies everything that I am as a wrestler."

Our Story: The Underdog

How many moments in life can you point back to and say, "that's when it all changed."

Back in high school I was a nobody. I had no passion and no sense of belonging. I didn't belong to any community simply because I wasn't pursuing anything. I was just kind of existing... Until one day my sophomore year in gym class, Coach Clark approached me and said, "Joe, you're pretty lean, how much do you weigh?" I didn't have a number off the top of my head, so we went to the athletics room and proceeded to jump on the scale. 106 LBS. (I was a pretty small kid) Coach Clark said to me, "Joe, you're the perfect weight for the missing spot in our varsity lineup. How would you like to join the wrestling team?" I stood there thinking about all the fears associated with competing in wrestling. Coach Clark didn't pressure me, but rather eased me into the sport by inviting me to watch a match. I thought to myself, "Man, wrestling seems tough. Do I really want to go through with this?" I had nothing to lose and the decision was made. I attended the next day of wrestling practice. Little did I know the first day of practice really set the tone of how difficult wrestling is. It was 2 hours of 90 degree drilling and conditioning!

My first season was pretty tough on the mind and body. I'm going to be honest... I hated my first year of wrestling. My joints and muscles ached all the time, I had performance anxiety, and quite frankly I wasn't very good. Despite, the grueling practices and getting beat by kids who didn't seem very capable... It all led me to one of the best experiences of my life.

State Championships: The Heroes Journey

Coach Clark wasn't lying when he said that I was joining a great team of elite wrestlers. All those tournaments and matches led up to us competing for the 2A State-Dual Championship. Keep in mind, this was my first year wrestling, so the whole experience was nerve racking.

The NC 2A State-Dual Championship took place at our opponents home turf. We were right along the coast of the Outer Banks. Anticipating the battle ahead of us, we settled in and braced ourselves for war. Slowly then suddenly, it was competition day. I vividly remember seeing the stands packed with a roaring crowd. They had turned the gymnasium lights off and then the spot light came on...

Then it began... The room was filled with tense heavy pressure as the two teams clashed back and forth... It remained competitive all the way til the end... and then the final match came. The final score came in at 31-30 favoring us! Realizing that we had just won, my team and I swarmed the mat and embraced each other in celebration! I remember hugging everyone I came across and crying tears of joy. In my head, confetti burst from the ceiling and there was this overwhelming sensation of glory and accomplishment. All the meanwhile, I stood there just taking it all in... My team and I had just won the first wrestling state championship in our school history!

Cool Fact: After we had won the NC 2A State Dual Team Championship it immediately began snowing... At the beach...

Our Why

Despite the grueling practices and the adversities of competition, I had learned something that could have not been taught any other way. I learned how to persevere with the uncomfortable. It's why we take so much pride in our sport. In that moment, there was finally a sense of belonging and camaraderie in my life. I finally had tremendous passion in my life. I was finally apart of something great. My identity? I am a Wrestler.

"More enduringly than any other sport, wrestling teaches self-control and pride. Some have wrestled without great skill - none have wrestled without pride." -Dan Gable

Wrestling is the worlds oldest sport. Man vs man in a grappling bout in pursuit of dominance. Two athletes going head to head, inflicting their will upon one another. Yet, only one will come out victorious. It's one of the most honest sport. There's nothing you can hide when you're competing on the mat. Everything that has led up to your matches are held accountable only by you.

The Mission

The adversities faced in wrestling has forged some of the most resilient athletes. For that reason, Wrestlers Reign came into fruition to revolutionize the sport of wrestling by recognizing wrestlers on & off the mat. Let them know that we live in the time of the Wrestlers Reign.

Join the Indomitable Tribe and rejoice in the camaraderie.
